By Abraham J. Bonowitz, Delaware State Death Penalty Abolition Coordinator
I have been in the heart of the campaign to end the death penalty for years, and Delaware is closer than ever to abolishing this ultimate denial of human rights – but we need your help to win.
Even if you have already done so, if you live in Delaware, it’s time again to tell your legislators to vote “Yes” on SB-19, Delaware’s Death Penalty Repeal bill.
Humans make mistakes – and in the case of the death penalty, the stakes are too high to allow for any chance of error.
The death penalty is unfair, expensive and tainted with human error.
Why am I so sure we need to act now?
In the United States, 144 people have been exonerated from death row. That means that 144 people were arrested, wrongfully convicted, and sentenced to death.
Others were executed before having a chance to prove their innocence.
The truth is that humans make mistakes – and in the case of the death penalty, the stakes are too high to allow for any chance of error.
We can do this, but only with your help. This is our moment. Help end the death penalty in Delaware. Take action now!
With such overwhelming support from across Delaware, it’s time Senate Bill 19 finally gets the vote it deserves.
Don’t wait – this is the time to make your voice heard.
Together, we can play a part in ending Delaware’s death penalty for good.
We are not executing these animals fast enough. You seem to confuse who is the victim here. How about the innocent people that were murdered by these animals ? They were not given a last meal or a chance to make their peace with God. They were not given time to say goodbye to their loved ones nor arrange their affairs. You are forgetting them . You are shameless. Maybe you should be strapped to the gurney yourselves along with your " poor , innocent victim " . One thing is for sure- these scum will never hurt others again.
Hector,
how can you be so cruel. I live in the Uk and I cannot comprehend the death penalty. I believe EVERYONE has a loving light inside them. When we are children this light shines brightly. Unfortunately as we grow up people throw dirt at us. They may physically or mentally abuse us. Our light begins to get covered by all the dirt. Our light fades, but it is still there. How do we react hector? Throw dirt back because that's what everyone is doing. In the end we all end up in the dark.
The answer to evil, is love. How can the answer to evil, be evil – this makes no sense.
I pray and hope that one day people will see the light and abolish capital punishment forever. I believe we should rehabilitate those who have got lost in the darkness.
Love to you all, including hector
